One of the main disadvantage of traditional method of replacing tooth is that adjacent teeth are shaped to replace the lost tooth. 

Dental implant is the recent mode of replacing lost teeth. Implant is a biocompatible screw like structure which is placed in the bone. Implant undergoes osseointegration(fusion of bone with implant) over which a crown is placed. In this method there is no need to involve the adjacent tooth structure.
